I used to use Greenify on my rooted Android phone along with SD Maid. It has both a rooted and non-rooted operation mode. Doing so, these apps will completely work running in the background, until you (or another app) explicitly trigger it. Rather it works by identifying apps that are consuming more memory and battery and let you hibernate them. So does it work like the RAM booster apps out there? It is an app meant to help keep an Android device lag-free. Greenify is not exactly an Android cleaner app. Here’s a good article on how to optimize your device for gaming). (Note: The popular opinion that Android optimizer apps help boost the gaming performance of a device is a myth. So that brings us to the question: Is there a way we can still clean and optimize our android devices using legitimate apps? But users who are well, not-so-technical, often fall prey to those catchy rockets and magic broom animations. Most of these apps come with tons of advertisements, special offers, useless push notifications and shady companies behind them.As far as their inbuilt Antivirus scanners are concerned, well, we have no idea how efficient they are, how good are their definitions and how often are they updated.Again, this doesn’t make sense (reason: the paragraph above). Their point is, if we can kill apps running in the background, the power being consumed by them will no longer be wasted. Essentially, zero benefits of “RAM Boosters/Cleaners”. Furthermore, some apps which don’t start automatically again can take longer to open the next time once they are killed. But due to the inherent nature of Android OS, many of these apps are pulled back into the memory, thereby undoing the purpose of why they were killed in the first place.
